We’ve got a great Friendship quilt on the wall today. It’s full of beautiful triangles made by Edyta Sitar who’s a terrific quilter and she loves triangles. She makes so many quilts with half-square triangles and she does terrific things with them. She combines all kinds of fabrics.
She makes it work wonderfully. And this quilt has all those little half-square triangles but then a large square, in the middle of the quilt block. So she combines a half-square triangles in all kinds of ways to make really interesting quilts.
And we have on the set today her book that’s called Friendship Triangles. And in that book she’s sort of challenging quilters to get together with their friends and produce oodles and oodles of triangles, and then trade them and make them into one full quilts which we call a triangle swap. Kind of like when a group gets together to trade pieces and sort of double, triple, or even quadruple your scraps and your pieces by sharing them with your friends. It’s like a cookie swap that you might do where, you know, however many cookies you bring you get to take different cookies. So it’s the same concept because you get a whole variety.
